every crafted by dawn custom piece is designed one-on-one with you, from start to finish. you don't need to know exactly what you want before reaching out. bring me your ideas, inspiration photos or old jewelry, and we'll figure out the rest together!

how often will it be worn? where will the stones sit? is the setting secure enough for someones lifestyle? is the chain appropriate for the pendant? is the band thick enough to hold up over time?

these details aren't the most exciting part of designing jewelry, but they're important.
if something you've saved as inspiration isn't structurally appropriate for the way you want to wear your piece, i'll explain why and help find another way to achieve the look.

the process

  • 1 - connect

    fill out the custom order form so we can make sure your budget, timeline and style align with what i offer before moving forward.

  • 2 - consultation

    we’ll chat one-on-one about your ideas, inspiration, budget and all the little details that will make your piece yours.

  • 3 - design mock-up

    i’ll create an initial mock-up so we can start visualizing your piece and fine-tune the overall design.

  • 4 - stone sourcing

    if your design includes stones, i’ll source options based on the size, colour, quality and budget we discussed.

  • 5 - final cad approval

    your final design will be created in cad so you can see the proportions and details before production. once you approve it, we’re ready to make it!

  • 6 - production

    your piece officially comes to life! from casting and cleanup to stone setting, finishing and polishing, your custom piece is made and prepared for pickup.

cost & payment

why do you ask for my budget?

your budget helps me design and source options that actually make sense for you. the last thing i want to do is show you a design you love only to find out it’s way outside what you wanted to spend.

what is your minimum?

custom fine jewelry starts at $1000 and custom engagement rings start at $2400. 

 pricing depends on the design, metal, stones, size and complexity. i can provide a  ballpark before we begin, but an accurate quote comes once we’ve worked through the details of your piece

how does payment work?

a $200 non-refundable consultation fee is required to begin and is applied toward your final piece if you move forward. a 50% deposit is required before production begins. your piece must be paid in full before pickup or shipping.

materials & design

what materials do you work with?

for fine jewelry, i primarily work with 10k, 14k and 18k gold, or platinum. 

.925 sterling silver can be used depending on the project. for engagement rings, high-value stones or jewelry intended for long-term everyday wear, i may recommend solid gold or platinum instead. we’ll choose the material that makes the most sense for your design, budget and how you plan to wear it.

can i use my own stones?

in many cases, yes! i’ll need to inspect your stones first to make sure they’re suitable for the new design and safe to reset. because there is always some risk when removing and resetting existing stones, a waiver is required.

can you reuse my old gold?

sometimes! whether your existing gold can be reused depends on the metal, condition and the piece we’re creating. bring it to your consultation and i can go over the options with you.

can you recreate something i found online?

inspiration photos are always welcome, but i won’t make an exact copy of another artist’s work. we can take the elements you love and use them as a starting point to create something that feels like you.

how long does custom jewelry take?

most custom fine jewelry takes around 8–12 weeks, but every project is different. stone sourcing, design revisions and more complicated pieces can add time, so if you have a specific date in mind, reach out as early as possible.

who actually makes my jewelry?

me! when you work with crafted by dawn, you're working directly with kristy to create your piece. i work with you through the design, then clean up the casting, set your stones, add any engraving and complete the final finishing.

i outsource CAD work because i'd rather spend my time making at the bench than behind a computer, and most fine jewelry casting is done by a trusted casting house for a cleaner, more precise result than sand casting at the shop allows.

warranty & durability

how durable are your pieces?

your jewelry is meant to be worn, so durability is a huge part of how i design and make each piece. if something you want could compromise the strength or security of your piece, i'll explain why and help find a better way to achieve the same look.

what warranty do you offer?

we offer free cleanings on all our fine custom jewelry (prong check, bath & polish). if any melee stones under 2mm fall out within a year due to manufacturing error, we will replace them for free.

i always recommend insuring higher-value fine jewelry separately, as a warranty and jewelry insurance cover very different things.
